Taichung County and City Government merged on December 25, 1999 to form Taichung Municipality directly under the Central Government. The Taichung City Architects Association and Taichung County Architects Association established under the former provincial jurisdiction have continued to operate for many years. However, the merging and restructuring of Taichung counties and cities into a municipality is an administrative act of the government in line with the national land planning, adding the content regulation of Article 30 of the Architects Act. Negotiation and discussion to promote the merger of the two associations to establish the Taichung Municipal Architects Association.
